Pat Valera is a theater playwright, director, and dramaturg. Over the last few years, Valera’s theater adaptations have developed a following – Dekada ’70, the musical adaptation of Lualhati Bautista’s novel, and Mula Sa Buwan, an adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano De Bergerac set in 1940s Manila. He is also the director of both productions. In 2012, Pat was a presenter and panelist for the Prague Quadrennial: A Shared Space – a symposium on devised dramaturgy. Pat has won the Carlos Palanca Memorial Award (CPMA) for his one-act play Gawani’s First Dance (2016) and for his full length play, Symphony (2018).
