MEET THE CYCLE 7 SANDBOX RESIDENTS
In response to the country’s deepening early literacy crisis—where many children in Grades 1–3 are reading below grade level—this project explores how theater can function as an effective pedagogical approach for strengthening reading comprehension and engagement. Through a collaborative, human-centered design process, the team is developing a structured toolkit that integrates movement, imagination, and storytelling to help children build confidence, comprehension, and foundational reading skills.

Reimagining Filipino Public School Teachers’ Learning Action Cells
This project invites teachers into creative, collaborative communities of practice where they co-design responses to everyday pressures affecting their well-being and school climate. By creating spaces for reflection, experimentation, and peer support, the program strengthens teacher well-being, trust, collaboration, and morale within schools.
Developing a Political Dynasty Tracker aims to build a prototype digital platform that systematically maps and documents the presence and movement of political families across elective positions in the Philippines. By combining political science frameworks with data architecture and visualization tools, the project transforms fragmented dynastic information into an accessible public resource that supports civic education, research, and reform initiatives.
Lakbay Dunong Bayan aims to reconnect young Filipinos with their cultural roots through immersive, story-based board games grounded in Philippine myths, epics, and values. By combining folklore research, Sikolohiyang Pilipino, and experiential learning with engaging game design, the project transforms oral traditions into participatory play that fosters cultural literacy and appreciation of Filipino identity.

The Political Dynasty Playbook responds to challenges in civic education by using game-based learning to make complex political concepts more engaging and accessible. Developed through a collaborative, human-centered design process, the toolkit supports teachers and students in exploring political participation, inequality, and democratic life.
Living Rivers, Living Traditions is a transdisciplinary study in the 4th UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Philippines, the Apayao. As a biosphere reserve, Apayao aims to be a living laboratory for improving human-environment relations. This project uses data from previous studies to create visually-pleasing, accessible educational materials for outreach, ensuring knowledge breaks out of the academic bubble and into the minds of Apayao’s leaders and constituents.
