Tipong Pilipino Discussion in Areté

As an auxiliary activity to The World’s Best Typography: The 65th Annual Exhibition of the Type Directors Club (TDC65), Areté presents "Tipong Pilipino and the Influences of Filipino Visual Vernacular on Type", a special discussion on experimental Filipino typography. The participating design studios will talk about the idea behind their submissions for the Tipong Pilipino exhibit, which was originally mounted for the Escolta Block Festival in November 2019.

Intro by organizers Clara Cayosa and Vince Africa

Featured Designers:

As participant safety is our utmost priority, we will be taking the following measures to lower the risk of exposure to COVID-19:

  1. We will be capping the maximum number of attendees to 60 people.
  2. The event will be live streamed on Areté's Facebook page for those who opt not to go to the venue.
  3. Temperature checks will be done at the registration desk. Any participant with a fever will not be allowed to enter.
  4. Hand sanitizer will be available at the registration desk, and hand soap will be available in all bathrooms.
  5. Participants are advised to bring their smartphones or any device that can connect to the internet. Personal devices will be used for registration and Q&As to avoid the use of communal items such as writing materials or microphones.

If you or anyone from your household is or was recently exhibiting symptoms such as fever, colds, cough, sore throat - please consider tuning into the live stream instead of going to the venue in person. Those who have travel history to areas heavily affected by COVID-19 in the last two weeks, as well as those who may be immuno-compromised are advised to stay home.
