Webbing the Dance addresses the lack of readily available resources that focus on Philippine dance studies. While the most prolific writer and historian for Philippine dance studies is Professor Emeritus Basilio Esteban Villaruz, his significant contributions to dance history, criticism, and practice are difficult to access for the general public.
Recognizing this gap, the project proposes to create a digital archive of Professor Villaruz’s work, creating a shared opportunity for dance and physical education instructors in the High School and Collegiate levels. This aligns with the need for dance studies to embrace technological advancements in order to stay relevant and expand beyond the stage.
